Open house shorthorn calf sale

We (Ed Meyer and Family and Fred Ripberger) would like to invite you to our Open House Shorthorn Calf Sale on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 1PM to 6PM and Sunday, September 5, 2010 from 10AM to 6PM.  The sale will be held at the Ed Meyer Farm (4015S-250East, Rushville, IN) approximately 4 miles southeast of Rushville, Indiana off of Highway 52, then one mile south on County Road 250 East.   

Our offering will include 21 Shorthorn and 5 Shorthorn Plus heifers and a few steers.  Cattle are available for viewing before the sale by calling Ed at 765-561-1232 or Fred at 317-694-4273.

All animals will be pre-priced.  To give everyone an opportunity to view the cattle on sale day and make an offer at the pre-priced amount, we will not finalize any sale prior to 6PM on Saturday.  At 6PM on Saturday, if two or more individuals have offered the pre-priced amount on any one heifer or steer, those individuals will have the opportunity to bid off the animal between those individuals.  Only those individuals who made offers prior to 6PM will have the option of the bid off, and it will take place privately between those individuals.  Any bidding by phone will be by speaker phone.  This will allow for those bidding to know who they are bidding against and the amounts of each bid.  After 6PM on Saturday and on Sunday, all offers at the pre-priced amount will be final.

The terms of the sale are cash or check.  All cattle sell under the Standard Breeding Guarantee recommended by the American Shorthorn Association.  An exception would be through mishandling either obesity or under nourishment and illegal practices associated with showing the female.
